Jeff Berezny

Jeff heads Growth & Design at on-demand insurance startup, Trov. He is a tech obsessed marketer and strategist with a solid track record of accelerating brands online. After spending several years leading brand strategy at tier I CPG companies, including Johnson & Johnson, Jeff started Tent Media, a global digital marketing agency. Tent Media was hired to jumpstart Trov's marketing in the early days and then Jeff transitioned to the Trov leadership team to lead marketing & communications full-time. Since then he's taken on a broader role of leading product growth and UX for Trov as it rapidly evolves its product offering and expands globally.


Igor Best-Devereux

President and CEO, eReinsure, Inc.

Igor’s career has encompassed risk analysis, insurance and technology – with companies including Anistics, Alexander Howden and US Robotics. He founded eReinsure in 1999 when InsurTech companies were still called B2B dotcoms. After initially self-funding the start-up, Igor raised three rounds of venture capital from strategic and venture investors to launch the eReinsure platform with major insurance carriers, reinsurers and reinsurance brokers in 2001. Since then, eReinsure’s patented “negotiation” process has become the most widely used digital distribution technology for reinsurance with over 20,000 reinsurance professionals registered to use eReinsure technology at more than 300 companies in 85 countries. eReinsure was purchased by AmWINS Group Inc., in 2013.

Pascal Karsenti

As Director, Research & Technology for Nephila Advisors LLC, Pascal identifies and accelerates companies and individuals innovating through technology in insurance distribution, data and analytics. A risk modeler by training, Pascal also works on complex transactions, risk management and applied research.


Ryan Kottenstette
CEO, Cape Analytics

Ryan Kottenstette is the CEO and co-founder of Cape Analytics, which leverages geospatial imagery and deep learning to instantly and automatically extract proprietary property data to power property insurance and reinsurance.

Ryan’s career has spanned executive management, product development, and venture capital. Prior to cofounding Cape Analytics, Ryan was an investor at Khosla Ventures, a leading Silicon Valley venture capital firm where he invested in and incubated several technology companies applying computer vision and artificial intelligence in industries ranging from shipping logistics, to agriculture, to healthcare. Ryan holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, as well as an engineering degree from Santa Clara University. 

Ryan has a very supportive wife and two young children, and in his rare spare time he enjoys hiking with his family and riding/repairing old motorcycles.


Tom Link

Founder & CEO, SpatialKey

Tom has bootstrapped two profitable companies: Universal Mind and SpatialKey. Through an unrelenting focus on design and delivery, he builds high-performance organizations. While at Universal Mind, he ideated, defined, and led development of SpatialKey, which was spun off as SpatialKey, Inc. in 2011. Prior to that, Tom spent 10 years building and delivering solutions at Macromedia (now Adobe) and other technology firms. He has a B.S. in organizational psychology from the College of New Jersey.

As CEO of SpatialKey, Tom leads corporate strategy and business development efforts. He’s evolved the company into a data enrichment and geospatial analytics hub for 200+ organizations comprised of insurers, reinsurers, MGAs, and brokers across the globe. While Tom is proud (and energized!) to be innovating how insurers enrich and operationalize data, he’s most passionate about his role as SpatialKey’s “custodian of culture,” which is evident in the company’s multiple “Choose People” workplace culture awards. Culture also earned SpatialKey a spot on Entrepreneur’s Top Company Cultures 2017 list.


David Miles
Managing Partner, ManchesterStory Group

Dave Miles is a co-founder and Managing Partner of ManchesterStory Group, a venture capital firm making early to growth stage investments in companies in InsureTech, FinTech and HealthTech. ManchesterStory is backed by a consortium of leading insurance industry players, and invests across the United States.

Dave has been an investment professional and entrepreneur for the last thirty years, most of that time as owner of Miles Capital, Inc., a $4.8 billion insurance company-focused asset management firm. In addition to his investment experience, he brings leadership and operating experience to ManchesterStory and its portfolio companies.

His career experience includes leadership roles in insurance, corporate and personal trust, banking, and the mutual fund industry. He presently serves as chair of Miles Capital, and a director of the Miles Funds, Winnebago Industries, and Northwest Financial Corporation. Dave received a B.A. from Drake University, J.D. from Harvard Law School and MPP from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.

In addition to his professional activities, Dave has long been an advocate for higher education. He presently chairs the Board of Directors of the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges (“AGB”), the country’s premiere authority on higher-education governance, and is serving in his fifteenth year on the Drake University Board of Trustees, including three years as chair. From 2007 through 2013 he was a member of the Iowa Board of Regents, and served as its sixteenth president from December 2007 to July 2011.


Matt Miller
CEO, Embroker

Matt Miller is the founder and CEO of Embroker, the first tech and data-driven commercial insurance brokerage.  Embroker is frequently listed as a global leader in insurtech and has been recognized as one of the innovators shaping the future of finance. 

Prior to founding Embroker, Matt was a Principal at the private equity firm Hellman & Friedman, where he led investments in insurance and software companies.  While at H&F, he served on the board of directors of HUB International, Applied Systems, and Renaissance Learning.  Prior to joining Hellman & Friedman, Matt was a Vice President for Bain Capital in Boston and Hong Kong and a consultant for Bain & Company in New York.

Matt graduated summa cum laude from Duke University, and earned an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar and co-president of the Private Equity club.


Chad Nitschke

Co-Founder & CEO, Bunker

After spending 15 years at leading insurance carriers, Chad left the traditional insurance industry in 2015 to launch Bunker, focusing acutely on the unique business insurance needs for independent contractors and small businesses.  Bunker is the first solution to provide unique insurance products and purpose-built technology that seamlessly embeds insurance into the contracting process. Bunker manages compliance of contingent workers for enterprises, helps independent contractors fulfill their business insurance requirements, and solves for the workers compensation need in the gig economy with its unique occupational accident insurance product.  Bunker is backed by leading venture capitalists and insurance companies, with offices in San Francisco, CA and Madison, WI. Bunker’s Co-Founder and CEO, Chad, doesn’t only have experience raising venture capital from firms like Comcast Ventures and Route 66 Ventures - he also personally invests in several insurtech startups, showing his dedication to continue to accelerate innovation in the insurance industry.


Martha Notaras
Partner, XL Innovate

Martha Notaras is a Partner at venture capital firm, XL Innovate, investing in insurtech, including startups focused on data & analytics and new business models. XL Innovate’s investments include Lemonade, Embroker, New Energy Risk, Notion, Cape Analytics, Slice Labs and Stonestep. Martha is a board member at Notion, an IoT home awareness solution provider working closely with insurance companies, and a board observer at Cape Analytics, a machine learning company focused on property data.

Previously, Martha ran corporate development for DMG Information, the business data and analytics division of the Daily Mail and General Trust plc. Of the 20 investments she made at DMG Information, two achieved valuations over $1 billion. She has served as board director for many early and growth stage companies, including 10 years on the board of Risk Management Solutions, which provides catastrophe models to the insurance industry. Her prior experience includes investment banking at Merrill Lynch and commercial banking at Credit Suisse. She received her A.B. cum laude from Princeton University and her MBA from Harvard Business School, where she was a Baker Scholar, awarded for graduating in the top five percent of the class.


Sofya Pogreb
COO, Next Insurance

Sofya Pogreb is COO at Next Insurance. She brings over 15 years of Financial Services experience: advised Fortune 500 clients at McKinsey and Company, then headed Risk Management for the Americas region at PayPal. Most recently, was the Chief Operating Officer at TrueAccord.  Holds B.S. and M.Eng Degrees in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.


Robert Reville
President & CEO, Praedicat

Bob Reville is the President & CEO of Praedicat, a latency risk analytics company that is transforming liability insurance underwriting and risk management.  Prior to co-founding Praedicat, Bob was Senior Economist at the RAND Corporation, where he conceived and led an R&D project mining the text of peer-reviewed science to identify emerging “next asbestos” risks.  The project provided the foundation for Praedicat and Bob traded policy research for start-up life.  Bob’s research career focused on liability, risk and insurance. He was the Director of the RAND Institute for Civil Justice, a liability research center which published influential research on asbestos; and co-director of the RAND Center for Terrorism Risk Management Policy, which published research on terrorism insurance that was cited in congressional debates over the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act. Bob has also written over a dozen studies on workers’ compensation. He received his Ph.D. in economics from Brown University.


Ted Stuckey
Head of Global Innovation Lab, QBE Insurance Group Limited

As Head of the Global Innovation Lab for QBE Insurance Group, Ted supports the global markets that QBE operates in by exploring how the latest technologies can drive growth, improve efficiency and build stronger partnerships with our customers. Additionally, Ted serves on the operating committee of QBE Ventures where he focuses on sourcing investments and commercial partnerships between QBE’s global divisions and start-ups that provide access to differentiating technologies.


Assaf Wand
CEO & Co-Founder, Hippo Insurance

Assaf is the CEO and co-founder of insurtech startup Hippo. Based in Mountain View, CA, the company is reimagining home insurance through the lens of homeowners – building policies with more comprehensive coverage for today's consumers at up to 25% less than competitors. Prior to Hippo, Wand was founder and CEO of Sabi, which designed and produced elegant everyday products (Sabi was acquired in 2015), a consultant with McKinsey & Company and an investor with Intel Capital. He has an MBA from the University of Chicago and a BA in finance and LLB in Law from the IDC Herzliya in Israel.


Zinovia Wendlandt
Partner Engagement Manager, Munich Re Digital Partners US

Zina established in 2016 Munich Re Digital Partners’ US presence in Silicon Valley and is responsible for leading the unit’s business development activities in the US, focusing on developing an ecosystem of insurtech partnerships across personal and commercial insurance lines, while engaging in business opportunities with broader digital verticals. Prior to Munich Re Digital Partners, Zina held senior consulting roles managing business initiatives and software implementation projects within the insurance technology sector, covering Germany with Munich Re and Australia with msg global solutions.
